Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of therapy services do you offer?

We offer therapy to children, their parents, and young adults. Please read over our therapy overview page for detailed information.

Can we schedule a “meet and greet” to see if the provider is a good fit?

This is a common and understandable request! Our providers spend much of their day in session and regretfully do not have the availability to accommodate these calls. Our providers are all warm, personable, and highly skilled. We match providers to you only when there is a good fit to what you are requesting.

What are your fees?

Fees vary by provider and service type. Please inquire directly for a full list of our fees and detailed information about evaluation costs.

Therapy Services: Forty-five minute therapy appointments with a licensed psychologist are $225. The initial intake (75-minutes) with a licensed psychologist is $340. Please inquire directly about fees for Dr. Pavlidis, who bills at a higher rate. You can visit our Billing FAQ page for information about insurance and how billing works.

Evaluation Services: Comprehensive evaluations involve a time intensive process.  The cost is based on the time spent by the provider, which is impacted by the complexity of the evaluation. The total cost typically starts at about $3500, with most evaluations landing in the $4000 to $4500 range. Costs can exceed this range, depending on the provider and time involvement. Please inquire directly for more detailed information about evaluation costs.

I’m interested in having you evaluate my child or teen. What does the evaluation process look like?

Our page on evaluations will help to demystify the process. We are happy to offer more specifics about what to expect when you reach out to us about the concerns that you have about your child.

What does therapy with young children look like?

Many challenges with young children are best addressed through work with the parents. It is often beneficial to include a brief developmental evaluation of your young child as part of the process. Please refer to our pages on therapy and parenting for additional information.

We encourage you to spend some time reading some of our publications to give you a window into how we approach helping kids and parents.

Do you work with adults?

Yes! All of our providers accept referrals for adult clients.

Do any of your providers prescribe medication?

No. We are happy to make recommendations to providers outside of CATS that prescribe medication.

Are we required to set up a certain number of sessions? Do we have to see you weekly?

The first step for any of our services is an intake session/ consultation. From there, your provider will customize the plan of recommended services. This is a collaborative process with you. While some clients opt to meet weekly, there are many situations that can be addressed with less frequent sessions. We do not operate in terms of service “packages” that require an upfront commitment on your part.

What do I need to know before I schedule a call with you?

We typically have a waitlist for all services, especially for after-school time slots. We encourage you to consider parent consultation if you are hitting roadblocks in finding a therapist for your child or teen.

Wait times tend to be shorter for parent consultation time slots.

We unfortunately do not have appointment availability for individuals in urgent need of services.

We are not in-network with insurance. Depending on your out-of-network benefits, a portion of the cost may be covered by your insurance (please review our Billing FAQ page).

When sharing information with us, keep in mind that we are mandated reporters, meaning that we are required by law to report suspected abuse or neglect of a minor or vulnerable adult. It is important to understand that our mandate holds even when we are communicating with persons who are not our clients.

An inquiry to us, spot on our waitlist, or the offer of an appointment does not represent an agreement by us to work with you. Please understand that the determination of whether we can work with you involves many factors and is an ongoing process, even after services begin.
